Four Corners Feature CD

Son Little’s new album is, in its purest form, American music. The artist formerly known as Aaron Livingston knows his nation and its sounds well. He was born to a preacher and a teacher in Los Angeles, where he learned how to listen and how to play before moving east to New York and New Jersey. He dropped in and out of schools and scenes in Manhattan then Philadelphia, and there he collaborated with acts like The Roots and RJD2.

Writer, comedian and longtime banjo ace Steve Martin has been especially active on the musical front in recent years, issuing a couple of highly acclaimed bluegrass efforts both on his own and with the Steep Canyon Rangers. He also forged a fruitful partnership with singer-songwriter Edie Brickell, which debuted on 2013’s Love Has Come for You.

Didn’t He Ramble, the new solo album from acclaimed singer songwriter Glen Hansard has been released on Anti Records, his first following 2012’s solo debut Rhythm & Repose, which Billboard hailed as “Hansard at his most engaging,” while The Wall Street Journal furthered, “Hansard’s distinguishing trait as a songwriter is a heavy-handed earnestness.”

Remember that mixtape your friend made you way back when - the one that's etched in your soul? Martin Sexton's new album 'Mixtape of the Open Road' is a self-described musical cross-country trip, blazing through all territories of style, as you cruise through time and place. This record is a charm bracelet of twelve gems all strung together with the golden thread of what Rolling Stone calls his 'soul marinated voice'.

Alligator Records will release 'Outskirts Of Love', the genre-smashing new release from trailblazing vocalist Shemekia Copeland on September 11 – the same day KSUT will feature the CD at 12 noon.

We're happy to welcome Colorado-based, progressive, acoustic string band The Railsplitters back to the KSUT listening area this weekend, for their performance at the Four Corners Folk Festival. The band's latest CD, 'The Faster It Goes', is our feature CD this week, as we give folks a preview of some of the talent gathering on Reservoir Hill in Pagosa Springs. Tune-in Friday at 12 noon.
