Four Corners Feature Artist

Fridays 11:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. on Four Corners Public Radio

We'll play a half-dozen or so new and back-catalog songs from a featured artist.

KSUT will be featuring Bob Weir's new album 'Blue Mountain', on Friday, 10/14, at noon. Producer Josh Kaufman partnered with Weir on the album, which features songwriting collaborations with Josh Ritter and performances with members of The National.

KSUT will feature the new Norah Jones CD Day Breaks, on its release date, October 7, at noon.  Her stunning sixth solo album, is a kindred spirit to the singer’s breakout debut Come Away With Me and finds the 9-time GRAMMY-winner returning to the piano and her roots. The album features jazz luminaries including her Blue Note label mates saxophonist Wayne Shorter, organist Dr. Lonnie Smith, and drummer Brian Blade on a 12-song set that presents 9 new originals alongside covers of songs by Horace Silver, Duke Ellington and Neil Young.

KSUT is featuring the latest release, Signs of Light, from Indie-folk rockers The Head and The Heart, Friday 9/30 at noon.  In 2014, after four years of non-stop touring, the six members of the Head And The Heart pointed their individual compasses to new cities, new relationships and new adventures. Pianist Kenny Hensley learned to fly planes and enrolled in kung-fu training in China, while bassist Chris Zasche packed up a camper and went off the grid in the Canadian Rockies.

KSUT will give listeners a preview of the new CD from John Prine  For Better, Or Worse, a duet album and follow up to the Grammy nominated In Spite of Ourselves, on Friday 9/23 at noon. In this timeless album, produced by Jim Rooney, John sings with country sweethearts Iris DeMent, Alison Krauss, Miranda Lambert, Kathy Mattea, Kacey Musgraves, Fiona Prine, Amanda Shires, Morgane Stapleton, Susan Tedeschi, Holly Williams, and Lee Ann Womack.

The Chicago band Wilco's 10th studio album, Schmilco, is KSUT's feature CD of the week, 9/15 at noon. We're fundraising this week, and will be offering a limited number of the CD for your pledge of support, while it's playing.

Schmilco features 12 new songs written by Jeff Tweedy and is the band’s third release on their own dBpm Records. It follows Star Wars, which was released for free and as a surprise in July 2015.

The North Carolina fraternal Americana quartet, the Avett Brothers, released their ninth album 'True Sadness' over the summer. KSUT will feature the CD Friday 9/9 at noon.

True Sadness was produced by the legendary Rick Rubin who has been working with the band for years. He challenged them to fine-tune each track - a big change for a band accustomed to playing it straight and live. Check out the result on the Four Corners Feature CD.
