YELLOW JACKET, Live @ Shakopee 2012, Featured CD Oct. 12th

Originating in 1995 at the Southern Ute Fair, two southern groups came together to form YELLOW JACKET. Traveling from one end of the country to the other singing southern style, this young group of men brought a unique and powerful singing to the people. A long the way singers have come and gone, one of the original singer Mr. Johnson B. Taylor, father figure and main supporter of the group passed.  At that time the group, out of respect for their mentor put the group name YELLOW JACKET away. Continuing to sing under a different drum name and with other up and coming southern drums, singers still held respect for the style of singing that they all loved.  Fast forward to the 2009,  original singers made a decision to resurrect the name of YELLOW JACKET and bring it back to the circle, again out of respect for their fellow singer and mentor.

This weeks Friday Featured CD is a compilation of live recordings from the 2012 Shakopee Powwow in Shakopee, MN.  A big thank you to Tyson Thompson for sharing his recordings with KSUT Tribal Radio.
