Singer/songwriter Michael Martin Murphey, author of songs like "Wildfire" and "Caroline in the Pines," performed live in the KSUT studios on January 16.
In an interview with KSUT's Jim Belcher, Murphey spoke of his enduring love for the American West, and for Native American culture.
Michael Martin Murphey has penned songs that are still heard daily on jukeboxes and the radio; he's the author of New Mexico's state ballad; he's been inducted into the Colorado Country Music Hall of Fame; and his 1972 song Geronimo's Cadillac became an unofficial anthem of the American Indian Movement of that era.
He still sells out concerts nationwide.
Murphey played Ft. Lewis College's Community Concert Hall a few hours after his appearance at KSUT.
"Michael Martin Murphey is one of the main influences on my career. He is among America's best songwriters."
