Update on KSUT's technical problems

Some have been resolved using new equipment; work continues on remaining problems.

(Updated Friday Jul 31 @ 1:44 p.m.)

KSUT Station Manager Rob Rawls and engineer Scott Henning have been at our transmitter sites most of the week, installing and testing new gear.

We've been trying to resolve two long-running problems: short audio "dropouts" on the primary link between our Ignacio studios and our transmitter sites on Missionary Ridge, Smelter Mountain, and Rattlesnake Peak; and a very unreliable backup link.

The second issue has been resolved. Thanks to the Southern Ute Growth Fund, KSUT has just connected to a more reliable broadband connection to use as our backup audio link.

We continue to work on resolving the first issue, and will keep at it until it's resolved.

For now, KSUT's 'secondary' Durango signal at 89.3 FM is mostly free of drop-outs, though you may hear a few as we work on our main Durango-area signal, 90.1 FM, which is still experiencing problems.

Our recent work may have fixed a similar drop-out problem on our Montezuma County signal, but our signals in Farmington, Pagosa Springs, and Silverton have not been unaffected.

You can also listen online and at iTunes Radio with no drop-outs.

We appreciate your patience during this time. Thank you for supporting KSUT Public Radio.
