Natalie MacMaster brings the Cape Breton sound to KSUT

The award-winning fiddler stopped by KSUT Thursday afternoon for a studio performance and interview.
Nova Scotia native Natalie MacMaster picked up the fiddle at age nine, began performing in public shortly thereafter, and released her first album by the time she was 16.

Eleven albums and thousands of shows later, she's taken her original Cape Breton fiddle sound and expanded it to include bluegrass and Celtic music.

MacMaster has recorded with Yo-Yo Ma, and toured with Carlos Santana, Alison Krauss, and the Chieftains.

She is the recipient of numerous Canadian music awards, including two Junos for best instrumental album, and "Fiddler of the Year" from the Canadian Country Music Association.

Natalie MacMaster and husband and fellow fiddler Donnell Leahy bring their Visions From Cape Breton and Beyond show to Durango's Community Concert Hall Thursday May 14.
