Mollie O'Brien and Rich Moore play KSUT

The Denver-based songstress continues the latest phase of her career, touring and recording with husband Rich Moore. They stopped at KSUT recently for an interview and live on-air performance.
O'Brien, originally from West Virginia, began her music career in the late 1970s as part of Denver's folk and bluegrass scene. She and her brother Tim released several albums together in the late '80s and early '90s, before embarking on a solo career.

In the years since, Mollie O'Brien has released five solo albums, appeared at numerous music festivals, and shared a Grammy with other musicians for her work on True Life Blues: The Songs of Bill Monroe.

Today, O'Brien tours and records with her long-time husband, guitarist Rich Moore. The two met at Denver's Folklore Center in 1981, and began playing together as a duo in 2006. They've released two albums together, including 2010's Saints and Sinners, featuring interpretations of songs by George Harrison, Richard Thompson, and Tom Waits. Last year saw the arrival of Love Runners, with songs from Randy Newman, Robbie Fulks, Dave Van Ronk, and some O'Brien and Moore originals.

KSUT has played Mollie O'Brien's music for years, on the Music Blend and on various specialty shows. She's also regularly heard on A Prairie Home Companion, which airs on KSUT Saturdays at 4:00 p.m.
