Leftover Salmon plays live on KSUT

The band celebrated 25 years with a return to Durango for a two-night stand. They also dropped by the KSUT studios recently to play live.

Leftover Salmon has come a long way from its late '80s roots in Boulder. Back then, their mix of aggressive bluegrass and rock & roll was a little different. Today, they're arguably the architects of the popular and ever-growing jam band scene.

The band recently released a new album, High Country, and is currently in the middle of a tour. Over the next few months, they'll travel from Chico, California to Cumberland, Maryland, with stops at Telluride Bluegrass, the Huck Finn Jamboree, and the Vancouver Island Music Fest.

The early part of the tour brought them to Durango's Animas City Theatre for two shows.

The band also dropped by the KSUT studios for a live set and an interview with host Stasia Lanier.

LoS fans are particularly excited to see the band with "new" official member Bill Payne. The Little Feat alum had been playing keyboards with the band for some time, but was officially inaugurated as a full-time member last September. He joins vocalist/guitarist Vince Herman, vocalist & multi-instrumentalist Drew Emmitt, bassist Greg Garrison, and drummer Alwyn Robinson.
