The Duhks join us live in-studio, Friday 11/7 at 11 AM

KSUT is thrilled to host The Duhks, live in-studio, Friday (11/7) at 11 AM.  The band performs at the Community Concert Hall at Fort Lewis College Thursday evening (11/6) at 7:30.

The Duhks' innovative approach to modern bluegrass music is reminiscent of other great young grassrock bands such as Nickel Creek and Yonder Mountain String Band.

As noted on NPR, "The inventive Canadians in The Duhks are widely beloved for their smooth blend of traditional roots music, bluegrass and soul, which they inject with well-placed Afro-Cuban and Celtic influences."

Founded in Winnipeg, Canada by banjo player Leonard Podolak after his former group, Scruj MacDuhk disbanded, The Duhks self-released its debut, Your Daughters and Your Sons in 2002. It caught the eye of Sugar Hill Records, which signed the group and teamed The Duhks up with legendary bluegrass banjo master Béla Fleck for a self-titled album in 2005. Migrations, produced by Tim O'Brien was released in 2006, followed in 2008 by Fast Paced World. Extensive tours - to enthusiastic audiences - accompanied both releases.
