The band headlines the Durango Bluegrass Meltdown this weekend, but will make time to play live at KSUT this Friday at 1:00 p.m.
Special Consensus has a history that dates back to 1975, and includes more than 16 albums, countless NPR and public TV appearances, and tours to Ireland, South America, and Australia.
Since 1984, the band has spearheaded the Traditional American Music program in schools nationwide.
More recently, the band's album Scratch Gravel Road was nominated for a Best Bluegrass Grammy, and two songs they contributed to Country Boy: A Bluegrass Tribute to John Denver, were recognized by the International Bluegrass Association.
Special Consensus, made up of guitarist Dustin Benson, banjoist Greg Cahill, bassist Dan Eubanks, and mandolin player Rick Faris, are among the headlining acts at the 2015 Durango Bluegrass Meltdown.
The band will play a total of four Meltdown shows: on Friday April 17 they'll be at the Durango Arts Center at 7:00 p.m. and the Henry Strater Theatre at 9:00 p.m.
Saturday, the band plays the Wild Horse Saloon at 1:00 p.m., and the Durango Arts Center at 4:00 p.m.
Special Consensus will also play the KSUT studios at 1:06 p.m. Friday April 17.
