Cheryl Waters

Cheryl Waters hosts The Midday Show on 90.3 FM KEXP Seattle, and online at KEXP.org. As the On-Air Events Coordinator, Waters also books the artists that perform at the KEXP live in-studio performances, live remote broadcasts and KEXP events.

Waters has been a DJ at KEXP since 1994. Her knowledge of and passion for music, both new and old, is evident in her diverse shows. She was the music critic for Seattle NPR station KUOW for more than 10 years. In addition to music, Waters is passionate about books and film.

The Australian psychedelic pop band Pond, which features Tame Impala drummer Jay Watson, takes listeners on a retro-futuristic odyssey throughout its new album, Man It Feels Like Space Again. With a vintage glam-rock vibe that brings to mind David Bowie and T-Rex, "Elvis' Flaming Star" is filled with explosions, otherworldly sounds and dizzying time changes. A sense of creativity and fun permeates the song, which calls to mind the playful antics of Wayne Coyne and The Flaming Lips.

When two of my favorite musicians, Britt Daniel of Spoon and Dan Boeckner of Handsome Furs and Wolf Parade, joined forces and, along with powerhouse drummer Sam Brown of New Bomb Turks, created Divine Fits, I thought it was a dream, as if someone had hand-crafted a band just for me! Divine Fits brings the prodigious songwriting and performing talents of Boeckner and Daniel together to create a captivating and energetic collection of songs that will delight fans both new and old.
